Mercy Children's Hospital
Food and Nutrition Services
For the health and comfort of our patients and their families, Mercy Children’s Hospital provides the following food and nutrition services:
Family Waiting Room and Dining Area Sometimes family members just need a place to get away from all the activity and distractions at the child’s bedside. The waiting area at Mercy Children’s Hospital gives them a quiet place to relax and watch TV. Groups of supportive friends and family can meet there and yet maintain a quiet environment in the child’s room. This is a good place to meet other parents for mutual support.
A dining area and kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator and vending machines are also available. The family kitchen is located adjacent to the waiting rooms. Please note that the Ohio Department of Health requires any food stored in the refrigerator to be kept in a leak-proof container and labeled with the family’s name and date.
Patient Meals Wholesome, nourishing, and well-balanced meals are an important part of your child’s recovery. Mercy Children’s Hospital makes every effort to provide your child with nutritious meals that are prepared according to the doctor’s orders. Patients are served meals via 'At Your Request' Room Service daily from 6:30 am - 7:00 pm. You or your child may order meals by calling the diet office at 1-6325 (1-MEAL). If you or your child are not able to order via the telephone, a diet clerk will take meal orders at the child's bedside. Meals will be delivered within 45 minutes of placing an order, unless a specific delivery time has been requested. If your child is on a special diet prescribed by his or her doctor, he or she will receive meals tailored to his or her specific needs.
Meal Vouchers Meal vouchers are available from your nurse for the parent who stays with his or her child. The voucher can be used to order items from the Meals at Your Request.
Cafeteria The Greenery, located on the main floor of the Medical Center, is open daily or your family and friends. It provides an attractive, relaxing environment in which to enjoy a good, reasonably priced meal. Soups, sandwiches, snacks and beverages are available from the serving area or the vending machines at any time.
