Interns
Types of Programs Offered:
- Summer Unit 10.5 weeks (40 hrs/week)
- Extended Unit October through (26 week; 17 hrs/week)
Tuition
- $25 application fee
- $100 acceptance fee
- $550 tuition (first unit) (subsequent units $650 tuition)
Orientation
- 4 days to hospital
- Mentor system utilized
Medical Center
- Level I Trauma
- 7 different types of Intensive Care Units
- Regional Heart and Vascular Center & Mercy Children's Hospital integrated into the campus
Pastoral Care Department
- 24/7 coverage in 8-hour shifts
Holiday/Weekend Scheduling
- During the CPE Unit, interns share coverage of weekend shifts and holiday shifts in rotation with staff chaplains, per diem chaplains, and other CPE students
Residents
Types of Program Offered:
- 12-month 3 Unit CPE residency
- Stipend: $29,000 per year plus benefits
- 15 Combined Time Off days (vacation + sick time)
Requirements
- Previous completion of 1 basic unit of CPE
- Connection to a faith group
- Bachelor’s Degree essential
- Masters level education in pastoral care/religious studies/theology preferred
Tuition
- $25 application fee

- $225 first unit
- $325 subsequent units

- 4 days to hospital by Pastoral Care Department
- 1-day Hospital Sponsored Orientation

Pastoral Care Department
- 24/7 coverage in 8-hour shifts on weekdays and weekends (7 fulltime, 3 part-time & per diem chaplains and a Director and a CPE Supervisor)
Holiday/Weekend Scheduling
- Will share coverage of weekend shifts (minimum of four weekend shifts per month) and holiday shifts (work 3 of the 8 major holidays) in rotation with staff chaplains, per diem chaplains, and other CPE students during the year
Residency Project
- Each Resident engages in researching, designing and implementing a project on some aspect of health care ministry during the yearlong program
