Defiance Clinic Provides Outpatient Infusion Services

The Oncology Center team is dedicated to providing excellent outpatient infusion service that includes:

• Treatment in a relaxed, comfortable, friendly setting
• Experienced infusion nurses
• Empowerment of patients by teaching them how to care for themselves, answering their questions and providing support and encouragement
• Coordination of care with the patient's physician
• Follow-up care
• Appointments that meet the patient's needs

The Oncology Center serves a diverse group of patients, including those with central lines, who are not hospitalized but need frequent administration of intravenous treatments, including:

• Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy
• Patients needing intravenous antibiotics
• Patients who need other intravenous medications

• Biological response modifiers
• Care of central line catheter
• Chemotherapy, including ambulatory pumps
• Hydration therapy
• Many types of intravenous therapies
• IV antibiotic therapy
• IV anti-emetic care
• IV immune globulin
• Intramuscular injections
• Monoclonal antibodies
• Pain management
• Subcutaneous injections
• Therapeutic phlebotomy

Supplemental services that support clinical care include:

• Assessment and evaluations
• Procuring specimens for lab testing
• Providing updates to the primary physician
• Documentation of care through treatment and utilization reports, progress notes, nursing assessments and discharge summaries
