Defiance Clinic Pro Rehab
An athletic trainer is a licensed health care professional that specializes in dealing with athletic health care. The certified athletic trainer (ATC) receives a degree from an athletic training program that is approved by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Athletic trainers are educated in the areas of pathology, assessment of injury/illness, general medical conditions and disabilities, emergency care, pharmacology, injury prevention and risk management, and medical/legal issues. After receiving a bachelors degree, an ATC is required to pass the certification exam established by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, Inc. (NATABOC). The examination covers a variety of topics including prevention, recognition, evaluation, assessment, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, reconditioning, organization and administration, professional development, and responsibility. The examination consists of a written portion, a practical portion, and a written simulation test.
