Definición

Es cualquier trastorno que afecta la capacidad del corazón para funcionar normalmente. Las diversas formas de cardiopatía comprenden:

La causa más común de cardiopatía es un estrechamiento o un bloqueo en las arterias coronarias que suministran la sangre al miocardio (arteriopatía coronaria). Algunas cardiopatías están presentes al nacer (cardiopatía congénita).
