Venografía

Definición

Es una forma de examinar las venas en el cuerpo utilizando rayos X y un colorante especial llamado medio de contraste. Con mayor frecuencia, se utiliza para examinar las venas en las piernas y en el área ventral (abdomen).

Las venas normalmente no se observan en una radiografía, razón por la cual se usa el medio de contraste especial. El médico inyecta este colorante dentro de la vena con el fin de que ésta se vea mejor en las radiografías.
