Employee Assistance Professionals
Sue Tignor, M.R.C., Regional Director
Sue has over 25 years of experience in the delivery of clinical and healthcare services to individuals and families. Since 1991, she has been in the Human Resources Division as Director of the Mercy Employee Assistance Program. As a partner in Executive Human Resources at Mercy, Sue has gained a unique perspective regarding the human capital challenges that face HR professionals and can assist them in implementation of their company’s policies and procedures as well as consulting with management in addressing retention and training needs. Mercy EAP is the area’s first and only internal/external program. Sue has worked in a private practice setting and served in the past as the director of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center’s Behavioral Services and Tennyson Center and taught at 2 major universities. She developed the first EAP graduate course in northwest Ohio at Bowling Green State University. She is trained and experienced in the area of management coaching.
Barbara S. Cruz, LPCC, CEAP
Barb has over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and families. For the past 10 years she has been in the EAP field providing counseling to adolescents, families, individuals, and couples. Barb has also facilitated trainings on stress management, change, diversity, and domestic violence in the workplace. She is trained and qualified under the 2001 D.O.T. regulations. Barb is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and is a member of the Mercy CISM Team.
Richard A. Hoernemann, L.P.C., L.S.W., CEAP, L.I.C.D.C.
Rick has been providing EAP services in Northwestern Ohio for over 20 years. He has extensive counseling experience with individuals, couples, and families and holds a special interest in the assessment and treatment of addictions. Rick’s successful career in the EAP field is further enhanced by his skill and understanding of workplace dynamics and human resource issues. He is a trained mediator, a substance abuse professional, and a member of the Mercy CISM Team.
Linda K. Lindsey, P.C.C., L.I.C.D.C., CEAP
Linda has 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families, with 15 years in the EAP field. She is trained and qualified under the 2001 D.O.T. regulations. She has experience providing human resource training and consultation in corporate, industrial, and healthcare settings. She has advanced training in mediation services. Linda has a leadership role with the Mercy CISM Team and is also a highly skilled facilitator of CISM in industry.
William J. Peters, M.A., L.S.W.
Bill has over 30 years of experience as a clinical therapist in healthcare settings. He has extensive experience in community and public speaking in the areas of contemporary topics such as addictions and family effects. Bill’s clinical individual and group work, beyond addictions, has encompassed stress and anger management as well as depression and anxiety. Additionally, he is a trained mediator and is a member of the Mercy CISM Team.
Becky Randall, BA
Becky brings to the Mercy Employee Assistance Program over 20 years of experience in educational, corporate, and healthcare settings. Becky's area of expertise is training and education, and she is also a member of the Mercy CISM team.
Ancillary Services
Mercy Critical Incident Stress Management Team
The Mercy Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team has facilitated debriefings in Northwest Ohio for accidents, fatalities, unexpected deaths, and injuries in the workplace. These critical incidents involved not only Mercy employees, but also other community members. We have team members available from pastoral care, mental health, nursing, and other ancillary services.
Mercy Occupational Health Services
As a partner with Mercy Occupational Health Services, our EAP has developed a one-stop Drug-Free Safety Program (DFSP). This enables employers to receive accident and random drug screening, Medical Review Officer assessments, treatment evaluations, and treatment recommendations.

Mercy Sleep Services
Mercy offers a comprehensive program for diagnosing and treating all major sleep disorders in adults and children. Our programs are fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and staffed by board-certified sleep specialists. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and a specialized team of physicians, psychologists, and registered sleep technologists who have devoted their careers to the study of sleep and the treatment of sleep disorders.
