Melanoma on the Rise in Children,
A recent study has shown that melanoma
has increased dramatically in children and young adults. Doctors attribute
this increase in part to the popularity of tanning salons, especially among
high school girls.
Pediatric melanoma tended to be
highest among Caucasian girls who had the highest exposure to ultraviolet
radiation (from sunlight or tanning salons).
Doctors strongly recommend that
parents limit the amount of time their children spend in the sun. Parents
should also be sure to inspect their children's skin for changes in moles
