Walking a Dog Helps You Meet Exercise Goals
One of the healthiest things about having a dog is taking that dog on a regular
walk, new research has shown.
A study of 2,533 seniors showed that the people who did walk their dogs were
more likely to walk 150 minutes per week than seniors who did not have dogs
and who were just as capable of walking. The Surgeon General's report on Physical
Activity and Health has stated that walking 150 minutes per week is "sufficient"
The down side the research portrays is that less than half of the seniors
who had dogs reported walking those dogs at least three times per week.
If you have a dog and you're able to walk, you may as well get out there
and do it. It's beneficial not just for you, but also for the pooch.
