Researchers Warn that Anorexia not Likely Caused by "Unsupportive Families"
After supermodel Gisele Bundchen made the claim that it's not the fashion industry that causes anorexia, it's "unsupportive families," researchers and other experts felt the need to express their own beliefs. They claim there's no evidence supporting Bundchen's claim. In fact, they say, studies involving identical and non-identical twins have shown that genetic makeup, not the environment in which you grow up, creates a tendency to be susceptible to anorexia.
It is possible, many experts believe, that environmental factors, such as the pressure to look like a fashion model, may trigger the genetic risk.
