Erectile Dysfunction in One in Three Men with Diabetes
Men with diabetes are more than three times likely to have problems with erections than men who don't have the condition. In a recent study of 1,460 patients, 34 percent said they had frequent problems and 24 percent said they had problems. The dysfunction in people with diabetes is typically related to the neurological issues that can arise as a common side effect.
Another finding from the study indicated that two thirds of the men who had erectile dysfunction also reported symptoms of depression. Other studies have concluded that there may be a link between diabetes and depression. And depression itself can put people at higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and other health problems.
