Two Pumps, Sold as Waterproof, are Not

separator People who use the Medtronic MiniMed Paradigm 511 and 512 insulin pumps should not wear the pumps when they’re swimming or showering. Although Medtronic stated that the pumps were waterproof, the company has noticed that over time, being submerged in water can cause the pumps to crack. Being submerged can also cause the pump to shut down.

According to Medtronic, it’s safe to splash the pump a bit or dunk it in water briefly.
