Flu Shots Recommended
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends flu shots for all people who have diabetes and who are at least six months old. Children under age nine should get two shots, at least one month apart.
The ADA also suggests that family members of people with diabetes get the shots as well, so they’re less likely to pass the virus on.
Additionally, the ADA recommends the pneumonia vaccine for people with diabetes. The vaccine offers protection against pneumonia for five years.
