Milk May Lower Cancer Risk

separator A new study has shown that people who drink about two 8-ounce glasses of milk per day reduced their risk of getting colorectal cancer by about 15 percent. Researchers believe it’s the calcium in milk that provides the protective benefit. Other dairy products didn’t have the same effect. People in the study who drank the two glasses of milk and took calcium supplements (900 milligrams daily) had a 22 percent reduction in colorectal cancer risk.

This news comes at time when children and adults are drinking less milk than ever, and often replacing it with soft drinks, which provide no nutritional benefit. So now there’s even more reason to drink milk.
