Family Enjoys Hot Air Balloon Ride
9/9/2013 12:00:00 AM --Mercy
Willard OH - It was a gorgeous summer’s evening on August 9, 2013 when Peg and Henry Jarrett lifted off from Auburn Lake in a hot air balloon. The Jarretts attended the Mercy Willard Foundation’s annual hospital fundraiser last November where they purchased the flight in the live auction. The excursion was donated by hot air balloon pilot Marti Keller and co-sponsored by Cole Distributing, Inc.
Peg shared a story of her daughter Rebecca Kimber seeing a hot air balloon for the first time when she was about three years old. She came in and excitedly told her mother that it was “raining pretty.” When Peg went outside to see what she was talking about, she saw several hot air balloons in the sky.
The Jarretts were excited that the balloon ride coincided with a visit from Rebecca and their granddaughter Josey who were visiting from California. To make the evening extra special, Rebecca and Josey joined Peg and Henry in the hot air balloon basket and the crew lifted them slightly above the ground, guiding the family across the field for a mini balloon ride. Fond memories were definitely made for the three generations that evening.
“It’s wonderful to have a marked off a bucket list item with my husband of 19 years” says Peg. “Making the sky ‘rain pretty’ for my daughter and granddaughter made it even extra special.”
The Foundation appreciates Marti Keller, Cole Distributing, Inc. and the Jarrett’s support of the Foundation’s annual fundraiser. This year’s event, Island Escape, will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Kehoe Center in Shelby.
