Mercy Defiance Clinic Neurologist Earns Certification

Defiance, OH - Prasad N. Policherla, M.D., a neurologist at Mercy Defiance Clinic, has earned certification and become a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), Inc., a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
To become an ABPN diplomate, a physician must successfully complete the certification examination. The certification process is designed to assure patients that a physician has the knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat specific problems and to provide medical management for a range of problems, including emergencies and long-term care of chronic neurological disorders.
Dr. Policherla has completed one-year fellowships at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, in Neurotrauma/Neuro Critical Care/Emergency Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. He has also earned certification in healthcare quality management by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP), urgent care medicine by the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, and pain management by the American Academy of Pain Management.
Neurologists diagnose and treat disorders of the nervous system and muscles, including stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, muscular dystrophy, headache and other pain, meningitis, encephalitis, epilepsy, Parkinson Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease and other memory disorders, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders, and the effects of systemic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, on the nervous system.
