Jump Start Group


If you are concerned about your child’s development, or if you are looking for advice or ideas on how to provide stimulation for your infant/toddler with special needs, this group is for you! This group will focus on the crucial parent-child interaction skills that provide the necessary foundation for speech and language development, play skills, and sensory processing. A specially trained speech/language therapist and an occupational therapist will work with you and your child in a small group setting to demonstrate and teach critical foundation skills.

This group will meet one time a week for 6 week sessions. Each session is 60 minutes. Please call, 419-794-7259, or email Mercy_Autism@mercy.com for more information.

CHIP Summer Camp


Your child will shine this summer in our preschool group for 4-6 year olds. This summer program is designed for children with autism, developmental delays, or for children who would benefit from continued practice to further develop successful school readiness skills. Foundation skills including motor, academic, social, language and cognitive skills will be the focus of this group. This program is best suited for those children who are able to participate in a small group setting without the need of one-to-one instruction. Space is limited. This group is led by a licensed preschool teacher.

Occupational Therapy Groups


Scribble, Scrabble, and Writing
Handwriting skills are often frustrating and difficult for children. These programs will address pre-handwriting, manuscript, and cursive handwriting. Lead by an occupational therapist, your child will be led through multisensory activities using movement, games, music, and hands-on manipulatives.   Your child will have fun as they develop the skills for handwriting. The program will utilize the nationally accredited Handwriting without Tears ™ curriculum. Classes are available for pre-K-kindergarten and 1st- 2nd  grades.

Pre-K and kindergarten children will be introduced to school readiness activities that will build the foundation for handwriting. Children will learn to form capital and lowercase letters and numbers. Motor skill work will prepare your child for pencil and paper skills. 1st and 2nd grade groups will emphasize correct letter formation, sequence formation, and reversal-free handwriting.   Group is be limited to 3 children.

This group meets 2 times per week for 4 weeks; 50 minute sessions. Two sessions are offered. You child may participate in one or both sessions.
