Mercy Robotic Surgery

Endometriosis Resection

Endometriosis resection is typically prescribed for women suffering from excessive bleeding, a condition known as menorrhagia. During the procedure your Mercy gynecologic surgeon is able to use the daVinci robotic system to accurately remove part of your uterine endometrial lining which will either eliminate or greatly reduce your menstrual bleeding.

While Endometriosis Resections can be done with laparoscopy, the daVinci Surgical System enables the surgeon to view the incisions in 3D. This three dimensional view allows the surgeon to see endometriosis lesions with more clarity than two dimensional viewing available through laparoscopy, enabling the surgeon to more precisely remove the lesions.

The process offers numerous benefits including:
  • less pain
  • less blood loss and need for surgical blood transfusion
  • less risk of infection
  • less scarring
  • lower risk of wound infection
  • shorter hospital stay
  • quicker return to normal daily life activities
