Mercy Robotic Surgery

Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids but leave the uterus intact. During traditional open surgery the surgeon makes a large incision to open the patient’s abdomen and operate on the uterus. Laparoscopic myomectomy involves multiple smaller incisions but typically results in a longer surgical procedure and during nearly 1 in 3 laparoscopic surgeries the surgeon has to shift to performing a traditional open procedure.

Using the daVinci® surgical system your Mercy gynecologic surgeon can precisely perform a robotic myomectomy to remove uterine fibroids. The benefits of the daVinci myomectomy procedure include:
  • preserving opportunity for future pregnancy
  • less scarring
  • less pain
  • lower risk of wound infection
  • less blood loss and reduced need for blood transfusion during surgery
  • more precise reconstruction possibility
  • less chance of possible future uterine tearing during pregnancy
  • fewer complications
  • shorter hospital stay
  • faster return to normal daily activities
